Draft with an assistant sitting next to you.

The draft board is also an MCP server — the open standard for letting an AI assistant call a tool directly. Connect it once and you can ask ChatGPT or Claude the questions you would otherwise be squinting at a spreadsheet for, in plain language, while the draft is going on. It answers from your league’s scoring and your live draft, not from a generic ranking list.

These are the tools I use for my own draft with my own money. They are not a product someone assembled to sell you — I am opening them up because they work and there is no reason to keep them to myself.

The connector address

Whatever you are connecting from, this is the only address you need:

https://fantasy.wagercast.xyz/mcp

Copy it without a full stop on the end. A trailing . or / is the single most common way this goes wrong — sign-in succeeds, everything looks connected, and then the assistant reports it cannot find the server. (We redirect the obvious cases, but not every client follows a redirect.)

There is no API key, token or password to paste anywhere. Authentication is Google sign-in, handled in the browser, and it binds the connection to your account — you see your leagues and nobody else’s.

Claude

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors and click +, then Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the address above. Leave Advanced settings empty — this server registers itself, so there is no Client ID or Secret to supply.
  3. Sign in with Google when prompted. That is the whole setup.

Works on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. On Team or Enterprise an Owner has to add it first under Organization settings → Connectors; everyone else then connects from Customize → Connectors as above.

ChatGPT

  1. Turn on Developer mode in settings. OpenAI has moved this more than once — look under Apps → Advanced, Connectors → Advanced, or Security and login. It is in one of them.
  2. Choose Add custom connector and paste the address above.
  3. Give it a name and a short description — the description matters more than it looks, because the model reads it when deciding whether to reach for the tool. Something like “my live fantasy draft board”.
  4. Complete the Google sign-in, then enable it for your chat.

Available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. On a workspace, an admin can switch developer mode off or restrict which connectors are allowed, so if you cannot see the option that is usually why.

What to ask it, mid-draft

Plain questions. It reads the column manual itself before answering, so you do not need to know the vocabulary.

  • “Which of my leagues are you looking at?” — worth asking first if you run more than one. Different scoring, different seat, different draft; it will confirm before it answers anything else.
  • “Where is my draft right now, and what’s on my roster?”
  • “Best available.” Or narrow it — “best available running back or receiver.”
  • “Will Bijan make it back to my next pick?” — the odds he survives, given he is still on the board now, which is a different and better question than where his ADP says he goes.
  • “Is the cliff at tight end real, or can I wait a round?”
  • “Give me everything on JSN.” — value, market movement, injury news, last season’s usage, on one card.
  • “Compare these two for my roster.” — it has your roster and your bye weeks, so it can answer for your team rather than in the abstract.
  • “Has there been a run at running back?” — when waiting stops being safe.

Anything the built-in questions do not cover, it can query the database directly. Ask for something odd and it will generally find a way.

Two things that will otherwise confuse you

  • Only the league owner’s board records picks. Everyone else’s follows along. So the assistant knows about the draft exactly as far as the owner’s last sync — if their laptop drops off the wifi, the room keeps drafting and these answers quietly stop moving. Every reply carries a freshness stamp for that reason; if it warns you the state is stale, believe it.
  • “My next pick” needs a seat. Questions like will he last depend on knowing where you pick, and seats are assigned by whoever runs the league. Until you have one you will get a clear error rather than a made-up number.

One deliberate omission: it will not hand you a single blended score that decides the pick for you. Value, roster need, bye conflict and survival odds come back as separate numbers, because combining them into one ranking would be a projection model nobody has tested. The board narrows it to two or three names. You choose.

Stuck, or something looks wrong?

Email billybets@wagercast.xyz — setup trouble, a player it resolves wrong, a number that looks off, or a question you wish you could ask it. Especially the last one. If it is drafting season I will usually get back to you the same day.
